MAT readiness
If you are a successful standalone academy trust (SAT) considering becoming a multi-academy trust (MAT) this service provides you with guidance on areas for consideration before making that important next step in your evolution.
Our experienced MAT consultants will guide you and your board on what it takes to be a successful MAT from a governance perspective, referencing best practice and DfE guidance and assurance frameworks.
Â
Our service
This service is designed as an add-on to our external review of governance and uses the consultant’s knowledge and understanding of your organisation and current governance practices to guide you on next steps to be ready to become a multi-academy trust.Â
The aim of the service is to develop the board’s understanding of governance in a multi-academy trust and the processes involved in leading a MAT. The NGA consultant will deliver:
- a MAT readiness report and a checklist of actions to be taken by the board to be MAT ready.
- Guidance on local governance structures
- Guidance for the board on how to operate as a MAT instead of SAT
- The consultant will present the findings in a meeting/workshop with the board and executive leadership.
To be effective, we recommend this service be provided immediately after the completion of the external review of governance of the SAT.
Our impact
- The board are prepared appropriately to implement effective MAT governance processes and structure
- The board understand their responsibilities as a MAT board
- Board structures, processes and reports are fit for purpose, avoiding duplication
- All those involved in governance understand how to work smart in a MAT
