MAT capacity review
The DfE often requests an external review of governance for a MAT planning to expand, ensuring their governance structures and processes can support additional schools. Our MAT capacity review service is typically combined with or follows an ERG, focusing on the current governance capacity and identifying steps to strengthen it.
Our service
This service is designed as an add-on to our external review of governance and uses the consultant’s knowledge and understanding of your organisation and current governance practices to guide you on next steps to strengthen governance ready for growth of the MAT.Â
It is a forward-looking exploration of governance practices and possible structural considerations to support your growth plans. It includes:
- Reviewing board foci, capacity and how it is organised, including its committee structure, and suggest options for improving the structure and effectiveness of local governance.
- A report on the capacity of governance currently and possible structural or procedural changes needed to build or strengthen governance capacity to support your growth plans.
To be effective we recommend this service is provided as part of, or immediately after the completion of the external review of governance of the MAT.
