Independent Review Panel support

Academy trusts must organise an independent review panel for any permanent exclusion cases reaching this stage. Our consultants are experienced in chairing or participating on these panels.

If the decision of a governing board’s exclusion review panel is challenged, an academy is required to organise an independent review panel (IRP) at its own cost. Most academies have little or no experience organising these. Our NGA consultants have experience chairing and participating in these IRPs.

Our service

We provide governance consultants who have the necessary training and experience to:

  • chair the IRP
  • sit on the independent review panel
  • provide advice, administrative support before the panel meeting, including guidance and support creating the pack for the panel meeting, support after the panel meeting and clerk the panel meeting

All consultants will review all the paperwork for the IRP, raising any concerns if these are not in good order, and participate in the panel meeting either as the chair, independent panel member, or clerk.

Our impact

We provide peace of mind that the panel will have the support of experienced governance consultants.

  • Experienced consultants
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with IRPs
  • Complete independence
  • Removing the risk of the proper processes not being followed
