Providing young people with the information they need to build healthy relationships and to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives.

26/01/2023

Relationships and sex education (RSE) is now a statutory requirement for secondary schools, and relationships education is required at primary level. Health education should also be provided for primary school pupils alongside relationships education.

A good quality RSE curriculum provides young people with the information they need to build healthy relationships with others and to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives.

Our RSE guide supports governing boards to fulfil their role in ensuring that RSE is provided in their school/trust and meets the needs of all pupils. It covers:

  • The legal duties relating to RSE
  • What does RSE aim to achieve?
  • What does good RSE look like?
  • The role of governing boards
  • Developing an effective policy
  • Allocating sufficient resources
  • Monitoring RSE in your school or trust
