Template governing board report to parents
An opportunity for boards to outline their progress, acknowledge challenges and ask for feedback from parents and carers.
Governing boards that are visible to parents gain more credibility and ‘buy in’ to the role of the board and its strategy for improving their school or trust.
Therefore, we recommend that governing boards provide a report to parents each year that outlines progress towards achieving their strategic priorities. This is an opportunity to celebrate successes and acknowledge challenges that require collective ownership.
The report should provide an opportunity for parents to give their feedback and comment on the school’s values, vision and strategic priorities.
Governing boards and school/trust leaders are best placed to decide how their report should be organised and what form it should take. Use our template as a starting point to help construct your own report.
Our annual report template includes:
- an introduction
- meet the governing board
- school/trust aims and progress
