Norfolk Governors' Network (NGN) represents school governors in Norfolk. All governing bodies are members of NGN.
Norfolk is a shire county with 437 schools of varying sizes including 52 secondary schools. The smallest rural school has under 20 pupils. The largest secondary school has over 1700 pupils.
Norfolk is a large county so distance is an issue for pupils and governors alike. The school transport budget is considerable and will become a bigger challenge with the introduction of diplomas. We have socially advantaged areas but there are also areas of both urban and rural deprivation.
Norfolk Children's Services has been in place since 1st February 2005. The Director of Children's Services commended the strong relationship that Children's Services had with NGN and said that Children's Services valued NGN for their part in fostering the links between school governors and the Authority.
